Amazing Las Vegas Flying Special!

This past week I went down to West Air Aviation at the North Las Vegas Airport to photograph an old airplane. A 1937 Staggerwing airplane to be exact. While there I learned a lot of stuff like:
This is the only Staggerwing airplane commercially available for flight training and tours. Basically you can ride in it or fly it! Yup. You can take an adventure ride over the desert in a rare and classic plane. Right there: Best Ride Ever!
I also learned that this particular plane:
- Was bought brand new by the owner of the Hudson Motor Car Company
- The US Military used it in WWII to transport dignitaries
- It eventually ended up in Las Vegas (after years of storage and a couple sales)
- It now lives at West Air Aviation where you can take a tour of the area in it, or learn to fly it!
Basically this plane has a pretty amazing history.
I also learned that West Air Aviation is currently running an awesome special right now. Your first flight lesson is only $49! Yea, you can learn how to fly on their training planes (and yes, you actually get to man the controls – but with a guide instructing you of course) for the same price as a nice meal in Vegas! It’s awesome!
(I think I’m going to have to take advantage of this special.)
These are the $49 flight lesson planes:
So yup, this morning was awesome. I learned a lot about planes I never knew (did you know planes, including commercial jets, store their gas in the wings? I didn’t!).
If you live in, or are visiting Vegas, you can contact West Air Aviation on their website: http://www.westairaviation.com or by phone: (702) 631-0229
Seriously $49 to fly a plane. Or to put it another way:
$49 to be able to brag to all your friends how much of a badass you are!
Cheers!

I love music, food, and exploring cities without guidebooks. I’ve flown a helicopter, hitchhiked down the east coast USA, and once snuck into the back of a zoo (in Serbia) and pet a lion.
I am always up for an adventure, and sometimes I videotape them.
