Welcome to Smiling Hill Farms in Westbrook, Maine.
Maine winter is a beautiful thing. Snow covered hills and fields contrast with the bright reds of old farm houses and the stubborn yellowing grasses that refuse to die. Simple touches add life to freezing cold landscapes, creating serene scenes with implied heartiness. And there are a bunch of great places in Maine to visit in the winter, like Smiling Hill Farms, which serves homemade ice cream (yes, even in the winter. Ice cream in winter is delicious).
Smiling Hill Farms is located not far from Portland, Maine. It can be part of a gorgeous winter drive in the area (something that is common and just fun to do). I may not like the cold, but I love the snow and I love Maine, and I couldn’t resist running around photographing all the wintery beauty that most Maine tourists don’t see.
Welcome to my home state of Maine!
About Dani Blanchette
I am a freelance travel and music photographer and creator of GoingNomadic.com.
I love music, food, and exploring cities without guidebooks. I’ve flown a helicopter, hitchhiked down the east coast USA, and once snuck into the back of a zoo (in Serbia) and pet a lion.
I am always up for an adventure, and sometimes I videotape them.
