Mattawa, Ontario is a small town about 4 hours north of Toronto, which is home to, among things like a bunch of giant wooden statues and the amazing artist Clermont Duval, over 200 kilometers of marked and groomed ATV trails.
Which is why we, Arienne from SeeYouSoon.ca, Christen “The Diva”, from DivasandDorks.com, and I are up here –
TO GO ATV RIDING!
(Thanks to Mattawa tourism, Tbex, and a slew of others (listed below) who helped make this trip possible).
After a beautiful drive where us 3 girls got to know each other while jamming out to awesome 90’s music the whole way up (you can’t not be friends with anyone who can also sing every lyric of Baby Got Back), we arrived in the small, northern Ontario town of Mattawa.
“Meet under the giant statue of Big Joe Mufferaw” are our directions. (yea, we have no idea who that is either. Turns out, he’s the Canadian Paul Bunyan).
Turns out Mattawa has a number of gigantic wooden statues, and after stopping at he wrong one, we find our Mattawa contacts; Jeff (from Mattawa Voyageur County) and Mark (from ATV Fanatic), waiting for us with one of the ATV’s we will be riding tomorrow.
After some publicity poses, we follow Jeff down a dirt road which opens up to a yard with a gigantic mansion of a house sitting on the banks of a crystal blue lake. This is Moosehead Estates – out home for the next few days.
The ATV’s we are going to be riding are already laid out for us, and we can’t wait to jump on them. But we are not riding today. Today we are here to get some promo photos, learn about Mattawa and ATVing, ask question, and have fun.
As photographers and videographers, we all start running around getting cool shots, while Mark takes photos of us photographing (something us photographers desperately need), and getting us having fun pretending we are badasses on the ATVs. (Thank you Mark for the following photos!).
We are all super excited, and a bit nervous, for our Chics-on-ATVs trip tomorrow – as none of us have ever driven an ATV before.
CHEERS!
This press, pre-TBEX trip was made possible by a bunch of forces who came together to give 3 chics an awesome experience.
Some of the companies involved, who you will meet in future posts, are:

Tbex
I’d like to thank Mark Hamilton from ATV Fanatic for all the awesome photos of me.
About Dani Blanchette
I am a freelance travel and music photographer and creator of GoingNomadic.com.
I love music, food, and exploring cities without guidebooks. I’ve flown a helicopter, hitchhiked down the east coast USA, and once snuck into the back of a zoo (in Serbia) and pet a lion.
I am always up for an adventure, and sometimes I videotape them.
