I was invited to spend a night in style at the Tcherassi Hotel & Spa in Cartagena, Colombia. And I was blown away but what came when I arrived. This may be a sponsored stay, but all opinions are, as always, my own.
Cartagena is known for its deep green emeralds, its beautiful Caribbean weather, and its high, Spanish-colonial luxury. And no place in Cartagena is more luxurious than the Tcherassi Hotel and Spa.
I had the honour of staying at the Tcherassi during my latest trip to beautiful Cartagena. Located on the northern edge of Colombia, the amazing views and warm, crystal blue waters is an attractive spot for VIPs from around the world. And doing the locals visit the first time I visited this jewel-ladden city, I decided that this trip deserved some much needed luxe and relaxation.
The Tcherassi Hotel and Spa was the perfect spot for that.
Located in the heart of the historic area of Cartagena, this colonial style building has been transformed into a delicate retreat. Named for the famous Colombian high-fashion designer, Sylvia Tcherassi, who was key in the design and details of this hotel, the Tcherassi flows with her delicate, light touches.
Upon arrival, a doorman is waiting to open the hand-made, wrought-iron gates, smiling as if her has been waiting for your arrival. You are greeted by name, and led into a small, cozy alcove with plush chairs, and offered cool towels and icy glasses of fresh, hand-crushed, mint lemonade. Women are given a small sachet, with a delicate, hand-crafted fabric flower, designed by Sylvia Tcherassi herself. There is no standing in steamy cue lines for check-in. You are privately serviced, with porters waiting to answer any questions and run for any service you may need.
After having your bags brought to your room for you, you are offered a tour of the hotel, from Vera – the fine dining Itlanian restaurant on the first floor which offers dishes that would make any native Italian weep with delight, to the pool on the top level which offers the most magnificent views of this tropical paradise.
No detail has been overlooked at the Tcherassi. From the single white flower in your room, to the rain shower, to the Aqua Bar, that sits over a long pool, and whose side walls are made from a waterfall – the Tcherassi is the definition of luxury.
During my stay, I was treated, at every step, as if I were the only client at the hotel. Every porter is their to serve you, and you will find your needs are already met before you can ask. The attentiveness of the service here is beyond anywhere I have experienced before. And, as a journalist, I secretly watch how other guests are treated. And everyone, from VIP clients, to tourists coming in off the street who, “just want to check-out the place”, are all treated equally – like they are the only, and most important, person in the hotel.
The Tcherassi Hotel and Spa is the epitome of luxury, but I find my words still fall short of just how amazing this hotel is. So I created a video to show you the Tcherassi Hotel and Spa. Enjoy.
