The Lady is a Stripper, an autobiography by Dusty Summers, is a horrific story that is beautifully written. Burlesque legend, Dusty Summers, is Las Vegas’s first and only nude magician, and her story is just as magical as her act. From an almost-fictional-it-is-so-bad childhood, growing up as a traveling entertainer while trying to find the love she needed through an array of not-so-great guys, while raising her amazingly intelligent and well-adjusted daughters, Dusty Summers blows all stereotypes of “exotic dancers” out of the water.
This story is not about a stripper. This story is about one of the strongest, and most amazing women, I have ever met (and yes, living in Vegas, I have met her, and she is the biggest sweetheart ever!). This is a story about courage, about believing in yourself, and that only you will decide what you will become. If you are feeling insecure, or like you have been struck a raw deal with life, READ THIS BOOK. You will quickly learn you are being a princess, and to stop feeling sorry for yourself.
This story is inspiring. Terrifying, but inspiring. I wouldn’t recommend it to young readers (well, I would, but probably not most parents) due to the violent abuses suffered, but I would recommend it to young adults, and high schoolers as a way to show them that they can do and become anything they want, no matter age or situation, all they need is confidence, determination, and basic good morals.
You can find The Lady Is A Stripper on Amazon in paperback and Kindle.
About Dani Blanchette
I am a freelance travel and music photographer and creator of GoingNomadic.com.
I love music, food, and exploring cities without guidebooks. I’ve flown a helicopter, hitchhiked down the east coast USA, and once snuck into the back of a zoo (in Serbia) and pet a lion.
I am always up for an adventure, and sometimes I videotape them.
