Welcome to east, East Fremont Street in Las Vegas, Nevada. I know I have written before about NOT going to the area east of East Fremont and the El Cortez Casino (because of the huge meth problem there), but early in the morning this area is relatively safe-ish and has some of the most amazing vintage sign-ery in Las Vegas. This photo is looking towards the Fremont Street Experience area, and shows Vegas in 2011. Even today, this looks much different, as some of the run down buildings and empty lots are filled up or refurbished. East Fremont is in the process of becoming the great section it was in Vegas’s heyday.
I also love the “travel guide” logo in the top of the sign, that looks totally photoshopped in, but I promise it isn’t. I don’t know why it was there, but it was and I just found this a great photo that will one day be a part of the history of Vegas.
The Featured Friday Photo is a new travel segment on GoingNomadic where, each week, I show off a new travel or music photo and put that photo on sale for the featured week. Prints start at $10 and you can download a digital photograph for only $3 USD.

About Dani Blanchette
I am a freelance travel and music photographer and creator of GoingNomadic.com.
I love music, food, and exploring cities without guidebooks. I’ve flown a helicopter, hitchhiked down the east coast USA, and once snuck into the back of a zoo (in Serbia) and pet a lion.
I am always up for an adventure, and sometimes I videotape them.
