The TreeTop Eco Adventure Park in Oshawa, Ontario is a year-round ropes course and recreation are in the Central Counties region of Ontario, just north of Toronto. This place has multi-level ropes courses for the whole family and 3 zip lines, the longest of which is 728 feet long!
The coolest part of this park is how they have rigged the course. In the video below, you can see a short close-up of the ropes which are buffered from the tree by wooden pieces. Each wood piece is screwed into the tree and the ropes and steel wrap around these wood pieces, keeping them from gouging into the tree trunk. Each wood piece is totally removable, and do no damage to the tree. Every couple years, as needed, the ropes course is taken apart and reset, allowing the trees to grow naturally. I was in awe at how eco-friendly this course is. It in no way harms the trees or inhibits their growth.
And as a concert rigger, I was pleased to hear that each morning the staff walks the course and safety checks the entire course.
This year-round park is an awesome place to try out your climbing skills, test your fear of heights, and just have some great fun! I totally recommend a day trip to this park. I would love to come try to test my skills in the middle of the winter with the snow and cold! I can only imagine the beautiful, snowscape views you would see while zip lining across the course!
I did all 3 levels and let me tell you, they are challenging. This video is just some of the different obstacles you must pass, and of course, show the views from the zip lines!
And is you watch till the end, you can see all my outtakes trying to say “TreeTop Eco Adventure Park in Oshawa, Ontario”. It was pretty funny how hard that was for me (hence all the cheering by the peanut gallery after I finally got it correct in the opening of the video).
Check it out!
